Ravi Ashwin will one of the key players for India in the upcoming five-match Test series against England.
After finishing the three-day warm-up match against Select County XI, the Indian team is now sweating it out in the nets for the five-match Test series against England starting on August 4. With just over a week left, India’s premier spinner Ravi Ashwin was seen having an intense conversation with the team’s bowling coach Bharat Arun.
The off-spinner posted the same picture on his official Instagram account and asked his fans and followers to come up with an interesting and cheeky caption for the post. Sensing an opportunity, Indian skipper Virat Kohli came up with a funny caption. The 32-year-old may be fierce and aggressive on the field, but is always up for fun banters off the field.
This time he was quick to pounce on Ashwin’s post and captioned it: “Let me bowl pls paji”. Ashwin was last seen playing County cricket for Surrey and got used to the conditions before the Test series. Often there is constant criticism on the off-spinner that he only takes wickets in the sub-continent and not in the SENA-South Africa, Australia, England, and New Zealand – countries.
Ashwin this time will be eager to get wickets in England and put all those doubts to rest. With him also being more than capable with the bat, the 34-year-old will look to also score useful runs lower down the order.
Ravi Ashwin shuts a fan with a fitting reply who questions his batting
Known for his handy batting skills, Ashwin has so far scored 2685 runs in 79 Tests with five centuries to his name as well. He briefly struggled to contribute much with the bat but came back strongly against England by bringing up his fifth ton in his home ground Chennai. However, as with the fans, they always want instant results.
So rather than appreciating the batter’s contribution with the bat, the fan instead suggested Ashwin to improve on playing the incoming bouncer a bit better. “Sir observing your batting for a long time if there is any problem it is the incoming bouncer directed at the body around the middle stump line from over the wicket and short leg, therefore, comes into play while you bat.”
Known for his savage and accurate replies, the off-spinner this time too gave a fitting reply to the fan by saying: “This ball will trouble Don Bradman also.”
