ENG vs IND 2021: Cricketers should learn to live with covid, ECB chief Tom Harrison.

ENG vs IND 2021: A few covid cases inside the camps will not force the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) plans for the coming test series between India and England. ECB chief executive Tom Harrison confirmed that no strict bio-bubbles will be imposed in the squads.

In the recent past, a lot of covid positive cases have been found in the United Kingdom. Two Indian squad members were tested covid positive yesterday, while England had to bring up a completely new squad against Pakistan after a couple of cricketers from the previous squad tested covid positive.

As per the reports of various media houses, the delta variant of coronavirus is on rapid spread in the UK with more than 42,000 covid positive reports showing up on Wednesday.

“We want people feeling good about going out and playing in whatever tournament they’re playing in, whether that’s The Hundred, whether that’s a Test series against India, whether that is county cricket and the RL50,” Harrison was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Harrison is of the view to communicate with the players and other members openly and train them to live with the situations.

“I think that’s a bad place for us to be. We have to be understanding about what it is to be a responsible employer, to be able to get the best back from players. That’s by treating them like adults, and talking and communicating openly about how we best mitigate the impacts of this ongoing pandemic.”

The ECB chief further stated that they don’t want players to stay confined to their roles of bat/bowl and again go back to their rooms.

Harrison made it clear that all the cricket boards must pay attention to their players. All the cricketers have been without their families and friends for a long time due to international commitments.
