The British High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis, learned a new cricket expression. This expression was taught to him by the former Indian captain Rahul Dravid, in the native language of the latter, Kannada. Alex Ellis posted a video of his interaction with the legendary batter on his official Twitter account.

The video featured Ellis alongside the former Indian batter. Ellis has recently flown to Bengaluru and he caught the attention of some Indians on Twitter with a poll that he conducted. In that poll, he asked fellow Indians how he should eat Dosa, a well-known dish, majorly found in Southern parts of India.

However, Ellis has caught the attention of the Indians by posting a video on Twitter alongside Dravid, where he was seen all excited to learn a cricket expression in Kannada, the local language of the state of Karnataka. Dravid being the local Bengaluru lad was probably the best person from whom he would learn a cricket expression.

“Cricket expressions in Indian languages part 2. Today, we’re down south in Bengaluru. What better teacher than ‘The Coach’ #RahulDravid, who taught me this in #Kannada ಕನ್ನಡ ????,” he tweeted. In the video, Ellis referenced that England and India are currently playing a Test match in Nottingham.

‘Bega Odi’ – Rahul Dravid teaches Alex Ellis

In the video, Alex said, “England and India are playing each other. I’m on the hunt for the best Indian cricket expression. We have come to Bengaluru and we have one of the greatest players to have played the game and he’s going to teach me and you one phrase in the language of the state – Kannada”.

After that, Rahul Dravid told him about the expression, ‘Bega Odi’. Ellis was seen further asking, “What’s the expression?”, to which Dravid replied, “Bega Odi” which means ‘one run’ in Kannada. The video became an instant hit with the Indian fans which has been the case with any content online related to Dravid.

The former Indian skipper was in the news recently after he was the assigned head coach for the young Indian team which toured Sri Lanka in July. There were things during that tour as well because of which we saw fans being in awe of the former cricketer.
