It has been a memorable day for India at the Olympics and Gavaskar enjoyed it to the fullest.

August 7, 2021 has been one of the historic days for India ever. The Indian athletes have shined at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics and the games got even better on Saturday when athlete Neeraj Chopra won the country’s first medal at Olympics since 2008. It was Abhinav Bindra then and it is Neeraj as he dominated the Final round of Javelin Throw.

The whole nation had its eyes set on Neeraj Chopra on Saturday at 4:30 PM when the final got underway. At the same time, Day 4 of the first Test match between England and India was also on progress but not many cared about it seemed. Not only the fans but also the commentators and crew from the broadcaster of the series, Sony Sports, were glued to the television set watching Neeraj.

Sunil Gavaskar, Ashish Nehra and Ajay Jadeja were among them as well and along with the nation, even the trio jumped in joy. Gavaskar was so much elated that he started singing a popular song ‘Mere desh ki dharti’ dedicated to the nation and also tapped his feet on it. The rest of the crew was also seen enjoying it with him as a Gold medal at the Olympics is a historic moment and Neeraj Chopra had given that joy to every Indian.

Meanwhile, the video of Gavaskar dancing and singing went viral on social media even as the whole country celebrated the success. Sunil Gavaskar was so excited that he even explained the meaning of the song he sung to Shaun Pollock while commentating during the Test match.

A tricky day at the office for Harsha Bhogle too

Meanwhile, even the prominent Indian commentator and presenter Harsha Bhogle also explained how he felt while also admitting that it wasn’t easy for him to control his excitement. At the same time, he was hosting the ‘Extra Innings’ show on Sony Six during the lunch break and said that it was one of the trickiest times for him.

“One of the trickiest programmes I have done. Ostensibly a cricket show but the mind was far far away, celebrating a great moment,” he tweeted.
