Mohammad Naim’s 29-ball 30 with two fours and as many sixes set the tone for the Tigers in the first game.
After the first innings in Mirpur on Tuesday, Australia looked firm favourites to take a 1-0 lead in their T20I series against Bangladesh. The bowlers had made sure of keeping the Tigers’ batters in check. However, the hosts put up a spirited show and won the game by a margin of 23 runs.
Nasum Ahmed picked up a four-wicket haul and rocked the Australian batting. The visitors, in the end, were bowled out for 108. Mitchell Marsh was a lone warrior for them, but after he perished for a run-a-ball 45, the writing was, pretty much on the walls for Matthew Wade and his troops.
The second game is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 4 and the Aussies will be looking to draw the equaliser. The pitch was a spinner’s paradise last time and it isn’t expected to change much. It remains to be seen if Mahmudullah’s men can beat Australia in back-to-back T20Is or not.

Playing combination for BAN vs AUS
Soumya Sarkar played a poor shot in the opener and he’ll want to make some amends. Naim and Shakib are in decent form, having scored in the 30s. Mahmudullah and Afif didn’t flatter to deceive either. In the bowling department, the spin trio of Nasum, Mahedi and Shakib will again play a key role. Mustafizur and Shoriful’s role can’t be undermined as well after they picked two wickets each.
Mohammad Naim Sheikh, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah Riyad (C), Afif Hossain Dhrubo, Mahedi Hasan, Nurul Hasan Sohan (WK), Shamim Hossain Patwary, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Nasum Ahmed
Bench: Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Mohammad Mithun, Taskin Ahmed, Mohammad Saifuddin, Rubel Hossain, Taijul Islam
The Aussies need to improve their batting if they wish to win the second game. The openers, Alex Carey and Josh Philippe perished early and the rest followed. It goes without saying the Marsh needs some support. They need to find a way of tackling the spinners. In the bowling department, they don’t need many changes as the bowlers did a reasonable task last time around in the series.
Alex Carey, Matthew Wade (C and WK), Mitchell Marsh, Josh Philippe, Moises Henriques, Ashton Turner, Ashton Agar, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Andrew Tye
Bench: Wes Agar, Jason Behrendorff, Mitchell Swepson, Ben McDermott, Daniel Christian
