Dennis Lillee’s famous saga of using aluminum bat against England in Perth is quite a famous one. However, in the latest turn of events, the reports around the bat are not good as it went missing from a charity match held at Government House in Perth in March 2021. The police in Western Australia are on with their search and trying to get hold of the bat which was valued at 10,000 Australian dollars.

The same bat was up in the Governors vs Pirates backyard charity game which saw the presence of several former greats of the country and famous personalities. Names like Justin Langer, Ernie Dingom Darren Glass, and Cameron Green also marked their presence in the game which was played to raise funds for children fighting with brain cancer.

A person named Bradley Skipworth, a resident from the Kingsley suburb of Perth added that the bat belonged to his father. The bat was given to him for being the last living member of the family and Skipworth wasn’t sure of the fact if Lillee used the same bat during the controversial Perth Test back in 1979-80.

The aluminum bat has a lot of sentimental value, says Bradley Skipworth

“I don’t want it back to sell it. It’s a family heirloom. It has a lot of sentimental value. I don’t care about the dollar value whatsoever,” Perth Now quoted Skipworth, who was approached to lend the bat to the charity event for promotional photos.

“But once the organizers had packed up and unpacked, they couldn’t find it. I’m not sure at what point it went missing,” said Skipworth as quoted by Sportskeeda.

After the organizers of the match failed to trace the bat, Skipworth reported the incident to police and they are up in their task. He added that he is really hoping that the bat might have gone into someone’s kit by mistake and is not really stolen. After using the same bat in Perth, Lillee revealed that it was of his friend’s and he used it as a marketing gimmick.
