Bhuvneshwar Kumar became the fourth Indian bowler to complete 50 T20I wickets.

Sri Lanka have fought back brilliantly in the T20I series against India. They won the second match by 4 wickets and levelled the series 1-1. The hosts chased down the target of 133 runs with two balls to spare. Earlier, India posted 132/5 after they were asked to bat first. Akila Dananjaya, Wanindu Hasaranga and Dhananjaya de Silva played a key role in helping their team win. The last and deciding T20I of the series will be played on 29th July.

Let’s look at all the important records and milestones created during the second T20I between Sri Lanka and India:

2 – This was just the second win for Sri Lanka in a T20I against India in the last 14 matches.

2 – In the 8 matches Sri Lanka have played in T20Is in 2021, this was only the second time they registered a victory.

50 – Bhuvneshwar Kumar played his 50th T20I today. He is the 9th Indian player to reach the landmark.

4 – India used 4 debutants in this game. This was only the fourth time India handed debuts to 4 or more players since their inaugural T20I. They had earlier used 5 debutants against Zimbabwe in two different T20Is held in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

1 – India is not having a good record in terms of toss in the recent games. They have lost 11 tosses in the last 12 matches across formats.

42 – India have now used 42 players this year in international cricket. This is the most number of players featuring for India in a calendar year across formats. They earlier used 40 players each in 2016, 2018 and 2019.

2 – Shikhar Dhawan scored only 40 runs in 42 balls in his innings. His strike rate of 95.23 was the second-worst for an Indian batsman in a T20I inning where a minimum of 40 runs were scored.

6 – Bhuvneshwar Kumar batted at number 6 for the first time in his international career during this match.

4 – Bhuvneshwar Kumar completed 50 wickets in the shortest format, and became the fourth Indian bowler to achieve the milestone. Before him, Yuzvendra Chahal (63), Jasprit Bumrah (59) and Ravi Ashwin (52) reached the landmark.

8 – India hit only 8 boundaries today, the least by the Indian team in a complete 20-over inning. The earlier record stood for 10 boundaries scored against South Africa in 2009.

8 – Sri Lanka used a total of 8 bowlers in this game. This is only the second time 8 bowlers were used against India in a T20I. Earlier, Bangladesh also gave chance to 8 players to bowl in the T20I match in 2019.

3 – India’s score of 132/5 was their third-lowest score in a completed T20I innings against Sri Lanka.
