Alex Hales stayed unbeaten on a 34-ball 40 in the run-chase.

The Trent Rockets continued their impressive run in the men’s edition of the Hundred. On Monday, July 26, the team, captained by Lewis Gregory, beat the Northern Superchargers by two wickets at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Rashid Khan’s all-round show took them over the finishing line.
Harry Brook shines yet again
After electing to bat first, the Superchargers started on a poor note as Ben Stokes and Chris Lynn perished in the single digits. Adam Lyth also got out after scoring 10. However, a 61-run stand between Harry Brook and John Simpson resurrected the innings for the Superchargers team.
Brook carried on his decent form, having scored a 30-ball 38 with five fours. Simpson, on the other hand, managed a 33-ball 42. Their efforts got the Superchargers to 132. For the Rockets, Rashid and Marchant de Lange picked up three wickets each. Matthew Carter picked up the other two wickets.
Hales and Rashid do the job
The Rockets had a jittery start as well. D’Arcy Short, Dawid Malan, Joe Root Tom Moores and Samit Patel perished with the score at 41. Lewis Gregory hit a four and a six before getting out to Stokes. In the last 29 balls, the Rockets needed 48 runs with only three wickets in hand and the pressure was on them.
However, Alex Hales with an unbeaten knock of 40 and Rashid Khan’s 12-ball 25 guided the Rockets to a win with six balls to spare. Carter’s eight-ball 13 also helped. For the Superchargers, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Adil Rashid, Callum Parkinson and Stokes got two wickets each, but their efforts went in vain.
I would like to contribute with both bat and ball: Rashid Khan
Rashid, who got the Player of the Match award, stated that he has worked hard on his batting over the time period. He also sounded a tad unhappy with the way he bowled as he thought to have bowled a number of bad balls in his spell.
“Exactly, a very good win for us. As a team, we showed character which was good to see. That’s what Hundred is all about (about the chase), as a team, we had the ability and the confidence that we could chase around 60-70 runs in the last set of five-six fives. I went in with the same mindset, I’m working on my batting, I think I have the skill-set and the mindset to chip in with the bat,” he said.
“I’m not being called as an all-rounder, but I would like to contribute with both bat and ball. I wasn’t happy with the way I bowled, I did get three wickets, but I think I bowled a lot of bad balls, something which I need to work on,” he added.
Here’s how the netizens reacted to Trent Rockets’ victory:
A bit late but Trent Rockets look so solid on paper. Hales, Malan, Root, Samit Patel, Rashid Khan, de Lange, a lot of International experience. Favorites?#TheHundred

Rashid Khan vs Adil Rashid is an intriguing match up. Two class leg-spinners. Both more than useful with the bat. And bona-fide match-winners. Who’s your favourite Rashid…? #TheHundred

Mel Jones: Are you one of the premier T20 all-rounders?
Rashid Khan: I think so but people don’t put me in that category. #TheHundred— Shubh Aggarwal (@shubh_chintak) July 26, 2021
Apart from Northern’s awful tactics…
Rashid Khan’s innings was the difference maker

Mujeeb’s spanked Rashid Khan about in T20 before today, so the move made sense…but Willey is such a good hitter of spin, surely you back him. Not convinced this pitch is as bad as Northern are making it look. #TheHundred

“I’m not that much happy with the way I bowled”
Rashid Khan is the ultimate perfectionist. I’m happy if I land one on the pitch
