Pakistan were all set to tour West Indies for five-match T20I series which was supposed to get underway on July 27 but now, one match of the series has been cancelled and four matches will see action. PCB agreed on CWI’s proposal of cancelling the first T20I and this didn’t go well with former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq. Now the first match will be played on July 28.

The development came on the table after the ODI series between West Indies and Australia had to be rescheduled due to the COVID-19 scare in the home camp. In the same light, Inzamam has slammed PCB for accepting the demands of CWI and argued that if a match had to be cancelled, it should have been done from the previous series.

“Cannot understand how the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) agreed to it or how the West Indies board put forward such a proposal. As we all know, West Indies had to reschedule the ODI series against Australia due to a COVID-19 case. But what does the series T20 series against Pakistan have to do with it? How could the PCB agree to this?” said Haq on his YouTube channel.

I am really shocked that Pakistan agreed to get degraded, reckoned Inzamam-ul Haq

The former Pakistan great also added that CWI shouldn’t have only made such a proposal neither the PCB had to accept it. He added that there was no need to cancel a fixture as it could’ve been played afterwards. Inzamam also went on to add that ICC should take note of what CWI have done to PCB regarding this series.

“The final T20 will be played on August 3 while the Test series begins on August 12. So there is a good nine days gap, in which a T20 could have been easily accommodated. If West Indies wanted to cancel a match, it should have happened during the series against Australia. What West Indies have done is degrading to Pakistan cricket. I am really shocked that Pakistan agreed to get degraded. You cannot do this. These are international fixtures and not club matches where you can say that I can play a match with this team but won’t play with that side.” Haq added.
