Rajasthan Royals will have some work to do in the second half of the Indian Premier League. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule of the remaining tournament on Sunday (July 25), and all the franchises must gear up. The competition will resume on September 19 with all the remaining games taking place in the United Arab Emirates.

With 29 of the 56 league-stage games already concluded, the UAE leg won’t be the same for all teams. While some sides are just a couple of wins away from securing a place in the playoffs, others need to work hard to advance to the next stage. Rajasthan Royals certainly belongs to the latter category. Having won three of their first seven games, the Men in Pink were fifth in the points table at the time of season suspension.

Although RR’s campaign hasn’t been sensational, they did considerably well considering the blows they suffered. While Jofra Archer got ruled out of the season without playing any game, Ben Stokes’ first game proved to be his last. Liam Livingstone also pulled out midway of the tournament citing bio-bubble fatigue. With so many potent names unavailable, many didn’t back RR to do much.

However, the Sanju Samson-led side made great utilization of the restricted sources and emerged victorious in three games. While Samson, David Miller and Jos Buttler shone with the bat, Chris Morris and Chetan Sakariya were the stand-out performers in the bowling department. Notably, the inaugural IPL champions need five wins in their remaining seven league-stage games to qualify for playoffs without any hassle.

Hence, taking them lightly won’t be wise for other teams. After all, one of RR’s three victories came against current table-toppers Delhi Capitals. Meanwhile, Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals will resume their campaign against Punjab Kings on September 21.
