Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will have a point to prove in the second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The Virat Kohli-led side enjoyed a sensational run in the first leg, having won five of their first seven games. A spot in the playoffs was just a couple of victories away and RCB fans were ecstatic. However, the second wave of the COVID-19 virus came in the picture and the tournament was called off midway.

Needless to mention, RCB would have been one of the most disappointed teams at the time of season suspension as they were on a roll. While the likes of AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, and Devdutt Padikkal got runs, Harshal Patel and Mohammed Siraj were brilliant with the ball. As a result, RCB held third place in the team standings when the competition got postponed.

Many fans and experts even saw RCB’s maiden IPL trophy on the way. However, destiny had some other plans as Bangalore’s campaign came to a halt. Nevertheless, the tournament is set to resume on September 19, and Virat Kohli’s men would like to carry on from where they left off. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule on Sunday (July 25), and social media went into a frenzy.

RCB fans didn’t take long in sending their wishes as #EeSalaCupNamde started trending on Twitter. However, only time would tell whether the Bangalore-based team will get the glory or the drought will continue. Virat Kohli’s men will certainly be determined to get the former result. However, their road to glory won’t be a cakewalk by any means with in-form teams like Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Delhi Capitals in contention.

Notably, RCB need just three wins in their remaining seven league-stage games to secure a place in the playoffs without any hassle. Given the way they have performed in the initial half of the season, it shouldn’t be a hefty task for him. Meanwhile, Kohli’s men will resume their campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders on September 20 in Abu Dhabi.
