Pakistan cricketer Abdul Razzaq has opened up on the reason why he did not feature in the Pakistan side for the 2007 T20 World Cup. The Pakistan all-rounder stated that he was not fit for the fifty-over World Cup in 2007, and so was not picked in the Pakistan squad.

Also, Razzaq added that he was fit in time for the T20 World Cup later in the year, but was not picked in the squad. And, when he approached the then Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik to know the reason for his omission, Malik had asked him to meet the chief selector, Salahuddin Sallo.

And, it was Sallo who told Razzaq that the decision to drop him from the Pakistan side was taken by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

“Unfortunately, I wasn’t fit before World Cup 2007 and missed the event. Right after the World Cup, I got fit to play but remained unpicked for T20 World Cup. I went to the then captain Shoaib Malik to ask the reason but he referred me to the chief selector Salahuddin Sallo. Sallo Bhai said the decision to drop me was taken by the board,” said Razzaq according to ARYSports.

I think chairman Naseem Ashraf didn’t like me: Abdul Razzaq

Abdul Razzaq also stated that he always had good interactions with the then PCB chairman, Naseem Ashraf, and does not know why Ashraf disliked him. Razzaq added that he does not intend to write a book, as all the truth will come out. He concluded by stating that the truth will be intolerable.

“I think the then chairman Naseem Ashraf didn’t like me. I don’t know why (he dropped me). In fact, he was with the team for two years before becoming PCB chairman and I always had a good interaction with him, reason for disliking me is still unknown.

I don’t have any mood to write a book. I believe you have to write all the facts in a book. If I write a book, all the truth will come out and that truth will be intolerable,” concluded Razzaq.
