Danish Kaneria feels that former Indian captain MS Dhoni would prefer coaching over commentary in the future. The former Pakistan player was recently asked what he feels would MS Dhoni choose as an option for his second innings during a Question-Answer session on his YouTube channel. While he did not reveal the reason behind his thoughts, Kaneria sounded sure about the choice Dhoni would make in the future.
“I think MS Dhoni would prefer coaching over commentary. I definitely think Dhoni will soon enter the world of coaching and will start a new career in that field,” Kaneria replied.
Notably, MS Dhoni hung his boots from international cricket in August 2020, having last played for India in the 2019 ODI World Cup in the semi-final clash against New Zealand, which India lost heartbreakingly to crash out of the tournament.
Dhoni was recently in action during the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League 2021, which was suspended midway due to the emergence of Covid-19 inside the bio-secure bubble prepared for the teams. Until the season suspension, Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings had a sensational run and occupied the second spot in the table with 10 points from seven games.
IPL 2021 to resume in September
After plenty of consideration and negotiations, the tournament is set to resume in September in the United Arab Emirates to (UAE), where the remaining 31 games including four play-offs will be played across three venues, namely Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
Two different squads of India, meanwhile, are playing currently, with Virat Kohli leading a unit in England and the Shikhar Dhawan-led unit in Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series. India will play England in five Tests in a series that will go on until mid-September, after which the IPL members will leave for the UAE, which is also the venue of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
The multi-team global tournament is scheduled to start only two days after the conclusion of the 2021 season of the IPL, which has now assumed more importance as it will be a good way for the teams to get used to the conditions before heading into the T20 World Cup.
