Renowned businessman Raj Kundra has been in news lately but for all wrong reasons. On Monday (July 19), Mumbai police’s crime branch arrested Kundra in connection with producing pornographic films. With the businessman being an eminent celebrity and husband of veteran actress Shilpa Shetty, the news of his arrest sent social media in frenzy. Twitter users have been sharing memes, GIFs, and all sorts of creatives to describe their emotions.

In the middle of this infamous episode, netizens have dragged India’s Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. One of Rahane’s tweets from 2012 has been going viral in which he praised Raj Kundra. Back then, the star cricketer and Kundra had a regular conversation on the micro-blogging website and the former would never have thought that his tweet would create a buzz almost a decade later.

“@TheRajKundra Sir you are doing a Great job,” Rahane had written in a tweet. Overwhelmed by the praises, Kundra commented: “@ajinkyarahane88 thanks so much. U must come and see it live.” The batsman then responded by saying: “@TheRajKundra yeah I wil for sure sir:).”

Ajinkya Rahane dragged in the controversy

It’s quite certain that this exchange on social media doesn’t have anything to do with Kundra’s case. However, who can restrict netizens from interpreting a different angle of the conversation? Rahane’s post spread like wildfire and the trolling game began. Although jokingly, Twitterati suggested that the right-handed batsman knew everything regarding this episode. Subsequently, a flood of memes and morphed posts were just a matter of time.

For the unversed, Rahane, back then, was associated with Rajasthan Royals and Raj was the owner of the team. With the Maharashtra-born cricketer being a vital cog of the RR for quite a while, it seems like he and Kundra shared a great bond. However, the association between the two ended after the 2015 season.

Rajasthan Royals, alongside Chennai Super Kings, faced a two-year ban from the lucrative league as Kundra was found guilty of getting indulged in betting. The businesses even faced a life ban from making any sort of participation in IPL. Meanwhile, RR came back in 2018 and Rahane led the side for a couple of seasons before going to Delhi Capitals camp.

Meanwhile, here’s a look at how netizens reacted to Ajinkya Rahane’s old post
