Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has always been in the news for his straightforward comments. Be it on Twitter or while speaking to media, he doesn’t mince his words and has, at times, attracted criticism from cricket fans as well. A few days ago, he lauded the Indian Mens Hockey team for creating history. The team had won the Bronze medal at the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics.

The team defeated Great Britain by 5-4 in a thrilling encounter and also created history to win an Olympic medal in the sport after long 41 years. Lauding the team, Gambhir termed the achievement of the Hockey team is even bigger than team India’s World Cup wins in 1983, 2007 and 2011. The fans were clearly not happy with him as they felt one shouldn’t demean achievements in a specific sport to laud the wins in other sport.

On Wednesday (August 11), Gautam Gambhir came up with a tweet explaining the reason for his brutal statements. He stated that he speaks his mind always and at that moment, he is heartless. “My brain has no heart. My heart has no brain. That’s why when I speak my mind I seem heartless and when I do what’s in my heart I seem thoughtless,” he tweeted.

Gambhir had taken a dig at criticism after Harbhajan’s similar comment

Harbhajan Singh also recently said that Neeraj Chopra’s Gold in the Men’s Javelin throw is bigger than the 2011 World Cup win. At that time too, Gautam Gambhir had taken a dig at his critics telling his former teammate he shouldn’t have said that. “True that @harbhajan_singh …But You shouldn’t have said this ! You should not say this ! You shall never say this !” he had tweeted.

Meanwhile, the fans have now taken hilarious potshots at the World Cup winner for his latest tweet. While some have bashed him seriously as well for his ‘bigger than World Cup win’ comment earlier in the month, a few trolled him.
