Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to fight tooth and nail in the remaining Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season to make a place in the playoffs. The Orange Army suffered a horrendous campaign in the initial half of the season, having lost six of their first seven games. As a result, they were reeling at the rock bottom of the team standings at the time of season suspension.

With SRH’s net run rate being on the lower side, one more defeat might be enough to knock them out of the competition. Notably, Sunrisers Hyderabad are the only team to have advanced to the playoffs every single time in the last five seasons. However, their sensational streak is in great danger and it would be interesting to see whether the 2016-season champions can defy the odds or not.

Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule for the second half of the season. The competition will resume on September 19 with all games taking place in the United Arab Emirates. With 29 of the 56 league-stage matches already done and dusted, teams can’t afford to take a lot of time to get in the groove.

In SRH’s case, the Kane Williamson-led side has to unleash its A-game right from the first match. Identifying a potent combination would be SRH’s first challenge as they did a lot of cutting and chopping in the initial half of the season. They even dropped their regular skipper David Warner from the playing XI in search of better results.

However, none of SRH’s tricks worked and their position in the points table narrates the entire story. Nevertheless, ruling Hyderabad out of the competition won’t be wise for other teams. With Williamson, Jonny Bairstow, and Jason Roy in ranks, the side possesses a potent batting line-up. At the same time, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan will handle the bowling duties. Meanwhile, SRH will resume their IPL 2021 campaign against Delhi Capitals on September 22.
